After a brief rest at home, I was treated to a two hour massage at Bersih Sehat in Jakarta. In a quiet room with massage tables separated by white cotton curtains I waited for my masseuse, Mulya. The gentle aroma of peppermint was soothing while the only sounds were those of the occasional thumping of the massage in progress next to me and the extremely muffled sounds of traffic outside.
With fingers of steel, Mulya worked muscles I didn’t even know were tense. After a two day plane trip, though, it was to be expected that I would be stiff. It was the best massage I’ve ever had.
